The 2021 ACC Football Championship Fan Fest was held at Romare Bearden Park in downtown Charlotte, NC from December 3-4, 2021. Due to the ever-evolving event landscape brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, ESPN and ACC decided to hold the event outside five weeks before Fan Fest opened. This is what happened.
We worked closely with the Charlotte Sports Foundation to obtain all necessary permits in time for the event, from right-of-way access and temporary street closures with the City of Charlotte to Special Event and Alcohol Sales Permits with Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation. We built out the 2.5-acre footprint with a branded mobile stage, LED boards, a beer garden, ACC activations, sponsor activations, tailgate games, local food trucks, and closed it off with nearly a half-mile branded perimeter.
Live entertainment included a DJ, ACC Network TV hits, school mascot appearances, and a battle of the bands between the Pittsburgh and Wake Forrest band and cheer teams.

OPERATIONS
We created this site map for internal approval and external logistics for vendors to use during load-in and load-out. For five weeks, the site map took many shapes and sizes before getting approval from all parties. Our team worked with 15+ different vendors and organizations during this event including the Charlotte Sports Foundation, Mecklenburg County, and the City of Charlotte.
